The week of April 23rd through April 29th is National Infertility Awareness Week® (NIAW). NIAW is the largest public awareness campaign that addresses the public health issue of infertility and was founded in 1989 by the United States based non-profit group, RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association. Every year, NIAW aims to educate the public on infertility as well as support those who have been diagnosed with this medical disease.
This year’s theme is “#FindYourVoice”. RESOLVE wants to use this year’s observance to specifically focus on raising awareness to “…talk about the issues facing this community and make sure we continue to support those most in need.”
Despite being located outside of the U.S., Barbados Fertility Centre is in full support of raising awareness around infertility, making it more attainable and affordable to those who need fertility treatment and particularly, finding ways to create an emotionally supportive and relaxing environment while going through any kind of reproductive treatment.
Briefly, if you’re not familiar with us; Since 2002, we’ve been making every effort to reach out to individuals and couples from across the world to invite them to our center to achieve their dream of having a child. Infertility can be an incredibly stressful time and many studies reflect the negative impact this can have on success. The National Center for Biotechnology Information of U.S. National Library of Medicine in 2009 did a study that found that a connection a decrease anxiety and depression and may well lead to significantly higher pregnancy rates. Going beyond offering beautiful Caribbean island however, we have a world-class IVF program and a dedicated medical team ready to ensure every single couple gets affordable, high-quality fertility care.
The bottom line is this theme greatly resonates with our team. We’ve seen countless patients from all over the world, including America, who traveled here either due to financial concerns due to the cost of IVF or because they felt our environment would an asset to their treatment. You can view many of their stories by visiting our testimonials page by clicking here.
Infertility is a medical diagnosis, and everyone should have the access to care they need, whether it’s close to home or abroad. For now, we encourage you to participate in #NIAW and #FindYourVoice as the more we raise awareness, the more we can not only educate the public-at-large about infertility, reproductive health and the importance of getting the medical care needed but we can support one another as those who need it explore all of their family building options.
