Dr. Corona completed her undergraduate medical training in Italy. Women’s health was always of special interest to her and after being awarded the Socrates Scholarship Dr. Corona completed her training at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, where she specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
After completing her specialization in Leuven, she continued as a clinical and research Fellow in endoscopic pelvic surgery and endometriosis at the University Hospital of Leuven, where she was later appointed as consultant to provide clinical and surgical services in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Fertility and to teach and supervise medical students and registrars.
During this time she had the privilege of working with international renowned experts in different fields of Obstetrics and Gynecology, being involved in several experimental clinical trials and basic research projects. She also developed her own research project that resulted in a PhD thesis in Biomedical Sciences, in several international publications and lectures. The aims of this research project were mainly to promote and increase quality of surgery and adhesions prevention, a post-operative complication that still strongly compromises the fertility and the quality of life of women.
After the achievement of the PhD she was appointed as consultant at the prestigious Reproductive Medicine Centre at the Free University of Brussels to provide treatment of infertility, fertility preservation in oncologic patients, andrology, and as an established endoscopic surgeon she was in charge of the Reproductive Surgery Unit. Thanks to this extended and international experience, she has come to understand and respect the diverse cultures, traditions and values of so many different people and patients.
